The only noteworthy thing about 231 is that its directions are backwards: the "north" end of 231 in Wendell is actually the southern terminus of the highway. 231 is signed as a north/south highway despite running east/west through Johnston County, which results in "southbound" 231 running due north through Wake County and vice versa. |
